English Language for the Workplace

Our Workplace English Language class explores a wide variety of workplace communication. We focus on customer service, Canadian-style workplace writing, and Canadian workplace culture. Classes can be modified for learner needs and levels.
Beginner English (LINC)
9am-11am, Tuesdays, Dawson Creek Literacy Society
Come and learn the basics of English or practice the English you already know! This class focuses on speaking, listening and building your vocabulary. At the same time students will learn more about Canada.
Intermediate English (LINC)
10 am-12 pm Tuesday/Thursday, Tremblay Elementary School *Childcare Provided*
In this class, learners will practice their speaking and listening as well as their reading and writing skills. Grammar basics and vocabulary are a focus. Canadian culture and traditions are discussed.
All Levels English reading and writing (LINC)
6:30-8:30 pm Tuesdays Dawson Creek Literacy Society
In this class, learners of all levels will practice their reading and writing skills. Canadian culture and traditions are discussed. There will be acess to free books donated by Literacy Now.
All Ages/Levels Family Literacy
3 pm-5 pm , Mondays, Dawson Creek Literacy Society
A chance for families to practice speaking English together while children have a chance to complete homework. There will be hands on family literacy activities on a variety of subjects, as well as tips, handouts and access to free books donated by Literacy Now.
All levels English Class
1-3 pm, Tuesdays, Dawson Creek Literacy Society
A chance for speakers of different levels to come together and practice writing, reading, listening to and speaking English.
This program is for adult learners looking to get their high school diploma. Our staff will liaise with the school district and assist you in signing up for the online courses that you need to graduate. They are also available for support while working on your courses. Work experience can be used towards credits for graduation. For more information about what you need to graduate, contact us.
Adult Literacy – English & Math *
This program is personalized for each learner. It covers a wide range of topics from learning to read and math fundamentals to preparing yourself for your GED. Reading, writing, and math skills are worked on individually, with support from staff members. Appointments can be made for extra assistance. Come and see us to learn more about how our class can help you achieve your goals.

Qualifying candidates will be able to access personalized and small group instruction to help them prepare for the workforce or further training/education.
All classes may be subject to change depending on the needs of the learner
In partnership with School District 59 and Success by 6/Children First, the Literacy Society hosts a multicultural preschool program for children aged 0 – 6. The Literacy Society has made available a lending library of multicultural kits to local preschools and early learning centres.
